Stand Against Slavery, an organisation that exists to ‘fight for a world where freedom reigns’ is pleased be launching on the 8th November 2013 at the annual gathering of the Baptist Churches of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
The genesis of the organisation is Baptist, but its vision is to grow a movement of kiwi abolitionists to fight against the evil of modern day slavery and the slave trade.
My name is Peter Mihaere and I’m the CEO of Stand Against Slavery. Joining me is, Nicola Winthrop who, in the early stages of the establishment of Stand Against Slavery, is the Head of Strategy and Implementation.
“without knowledge action is useless and knowledge without action is futile.”
– Abu Bakr
We want to develop an environment where we can help gain knowledge & resources for those who have joined us in this fight, but we also want to provide pathways to take that knowledge and apply it into action.
Over the next few months we will be building the foundation and framework of the organisation and then add walls, rooms and furniture that will help you be informed about slavery and the slave trade, along with avenues to respond.
